Forget me.
Sure. Iâll get right on that, Tanner.
I wasnât sure what his issue suddenly was but whoever was on the phone, gave him some bad news that made him fall into himself. I had watched Tannerâs face go pale. He looked like he had seen a ghost, or he had just been told when his life would end.
As he walked down the hall away from me, I couldnât help but wonder how he was as a boy. Something told me that he never had a good childhood. Especially if he wasnât allowed to watch movies. Who didnât let their kid watch movies?
Tanner slipped into the bathroom, the sound of the shower running a moment later.
I looked at the stairs leading to the main floor and back toward the bathroom. I should leave Tanner alone. Something obviously upset him. I should have done a lot of things but instead of listening to that little voice in my head, I listened to the one in my gut. It said to go to him. To talk to him. To show him that I wasnât giving up on us. To show him that he was enough and that he deserved happiness.
My feet took me down the hall and toward the bathroom. The closer I got, the harder my heart raced.
When I stood outside the bathroom, I took a deep breath and slowly opened the door. He was in the shower, his nakedness shielded by the glass door, but I could still see the outline of his body.
He stood up straight, his gaze burning through me. Even though I couldnât see him clearly through the fog of the door, I could sense him. I could almost picture every line of his hard body.
Closing the door behind me, I clicked the lock into place and began stripping. I wanted him to know that this was it. That I was in this for the long run.
Once I was completely naked with my clothes in a pile at my feet, I went to the shower. I had always liked this one and preferred it to the other bathrooms in the house. This shower had two shower heads. One was attached to the wall and the other, you could use to massage every part of you.
Tanner slowly opened the shower door, staring down at me.
I swallowed hard, my eyes traveling down every part of his naked body.
He held out his hand, waiting.
My stomach flipped that he was giving me the option to run. But I would never run. Not from him. I slipped my fingers in his, letting him pull me into the shower with him.
He shut the door, closing me in with him. He looked down at me through hooded eyes.
Placing my hands on his shoulders, I ran them down his torso. His abs jumped under my touch.
Tanner smirked, pulled the showerhead from its holder on the wall, and aimed the running water at my chest. He slowly lowered it down my body, keeping his eyes locked on mine.
